Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz that contains acicular (needle-like) inclusions of rutile. It is used for gemstones. These inclusions mostly look golden, but they also can look silver, copper-red or deep black.
Rutilated Quartz is a form of Clear Quartz. The presence of “needles” or strands of Rutile within the structure of the quartz crystal makes it unique.
Rutile is a titanium dioxide mineral, and sometimes contains large quantities of iron oxide.
When the iron oxide content is high, the Rutilated Quartz may have needles of gold and red in it. When the content is lower, it may have a darker and almost black color
