These earrings are handmade in collaboration with Anav.handmade using Macrame techniques and a Gold Vermeil pair of Hoops.
Macrame is a handmade textile made using knotting techniques. Even tough there are evidences the technique is used since prehistoric times, it became known when sailors started to create things using knots during their trips. In the 70's, hippies started to use Macrame and it became popular all over the World.
We propose a minimal and sustainable approach to Macrame, creating jewellery pieces for everyday wear.
Beho x Anav.handmade collection is made by talented artisans, based in a small town called Bento Goncalves, in Brazil.
The yarn used is produced as a result of a recycling process, where cotton waste from the textile industry is transformed into new yarns, in a clean process, without using chemical dyes. For many people, textile waste means the end of a process. For us, it can be used as the beginning of a great transformation.
- Gold vermeil is a high-quality form of gold plating in which a thick layer of gold (10 microns of 18k gold) is coated upon sterling silver.
- Every earring comes in an organic cotton pouch and a plantable box that has mustard seeds inside to reduce our waste.
